RM of Enterprise’s story
The Rural Municipality of Enterprise No. 142 was incorporated on April 18, 1913. It lies in the southwest part of Saskatchewan and surrounds the village of Richmound, where the RM office is located. Horsham, Surprise and Tunstall are unincorporated localities within its boundaries.
One of the best-known spots in the municipality is McLaren Lake Regional Park, set on a small lake created when a dam was built in the 1960s. The regional park itself was founded in 1961, and soon afterward 5,000 trees were planted. In 1965 a ball diamond and concession booth were built, and the following year the lake was stocked with 250,000 walleye. It has since also been stocked with rainbow trout, and five wind-powered aeration systems help keep the water oxygenated through the winter.
Today the park offers a campground with 67 sites, a beach, a dock, cabin rentals, a playground and a nine-hole golf course with sand greens. It is reached from Highway 635.
